Welcome to the Edmonton Housing Blog

For the some time now Calgary and Vancouver has had a Real Estate Blog with a bipartisan view of the RE market. Edmonton has a blog but is nothing more than a front to sell home by Coldwell Banker.

The aim of this blog is to drive discussion around the Edmonton RE market. I welcome the bulls and the bears, and hope to be a neutral voice in the discussion of our Residential, Commercial and general economy of The City of Champions, Edmonton.

Please feel free to introduce yourself and to provide input into what you would like to see in this blog.

Take a loo at VHB's Blog. He has posted a Blog Round Up. You can get some good ideas from looking at the other Blogs there.

Welcome to the ever growing list of Canadian Housing Blogs.

Edmonton sadly lacks the appeal of places like Toronto, Vancouver or even Calgary for that matter. Though I have chosen to live here in Edmonton for nearly a decade. That was mainly due to its affordability and the fact that I have friends and family here. This so called 'Boom' has been generated by a force that the average person cannot control and is not going away. The oilsands have the power to draw people from across Canada to our once affordable province. And with this population increase we can expect steady price increases for years to come. It may be time to accept it or move on. Sadly, I am one of the people who considered waiting for the right time to buy, and if you can, it may as well be now before more EREB forecasts come true. Or maybe our oilsands will run dry and we will become a ghost town—not likely.
